When the presidential primaries started, there was a rush by states to hold their contests early in the process so as to have a say (see Screwin’ with Votin’). In years past the winners of one party or the other was determined well before all the primaries had been held, so those states late in line got to vote but without impact. The irony is that, at least for the Democrat Party, we are just a little over a week away from the end of the slate of state elections and caucuses and there is still no clear winner.
So, along with all the other firsts we’ve seen this year, perhaps the most exciting is that we all got to vote and that every vote had impact. While a few weeks ago I had wanted Clinton to say that’s all folks, I am glad every Democrat in every state and territory got to mark a ballot.
