The car I learned to drive on was two years older than I, and when I was 16 we moved and did not take the Fifty-two Chevy with us.
Within a few weeks of moving to Florida we bought a replacement car...a 1971 Volkswagen Sedan Model 1111. A beetle. Clementine was the specified color, but it was orange. It had no options so the cost was the car and a delivery charge. Arrived in the Port of Jacksonville; we bought it from a dealer in Palatka. Had no A/C, no radio, but was brand new and peppy.
It continued to be peppy moving me though high school, college, and for a couple of years beyond until it threw a rod near Sebastian Inlet and we parted ways.
Was worth much more than we paid.
