listening to Tapestry on a turntable
for the first time in a long time
it’s an album,
not a single,
and each song is placed
first or second, or
between this one and that one,
or last,
for a reason.
that’s what i remembered well into the third cut
recalling word for word each word of the first song,
and then when it ended,
a millisecond before the first note
of the second song
i heard it.
loud and clear.
in the order the artist knew I would.
shuffling is not an option,
nor is moving the arm
up and over and delicately down...
...that would be silly.
i put it on...
i listen to it...
it is one whole piece.
it is a whole...
made up of many pieces...
making a tapestry...
a whole
tapestry.
