of the 3.21 inches
of rain that fell here in March
fell during last Sunday’s pre-dawn hours.
It all came at once.
Rainfall has been sporadic or not at all.
II.
Yesterday I bought a rain gauge
not having had one for several years
not wanting one unless I found a glass one
with a mount for mounting on a post, like on a fence post.
I found one yesterday
and before dark had it mounted
and ready to gauge rain.
III.
The rains started before midnight
and continued all through the night
and into the day and past mid-day
dying off only as the day’s light died off
and only after bringing two-and-a-half inches
to The (parched) Estate
as recorded (officially) by the now functioning
rain gauge.
