I do not remember checking any luggage, but I am sure I did. It is what one did. Let them handle the bag. I do remember wearing a tie, a coat of a la madras plaid, sunglasses, and a maroon roll-up hat. I was 12.
The plane was a Martin 404. I remember it being loud, but my not minding. I sat by the window and looked down for the entire flight.
