First Flight - Welcome aboard

First time I flew was in June 1966. Same month as the US began bombing Hanoi, NOW was organized, and both Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and The Glass Bottom Boat were released.

I was not aware of any of those things; I was going to spend a month in Alabama with my grandfather, and I was traveling by air for the first time.

My flight was on Southern Airways from Charlotte to Dothan with a change in Atlanta. I remember the flight being slow and low, slow and low enough that I could see stuff on the ground, stuff like trucks and farms and lakes and communities, and I remember that on each leg of the flight I received a Coke with ice.
